Kritika scores 97% to top EMRS Class 10 nationwide

Raipur: Kritika Tekam, a tribal student from Bastar's Kanker district, has secured the top rank among all Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across India in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 board examinations. Tekam scored 97% marks, surpassing students from approximately 750 Eklavya schools nationwide. The CBSE recently declared the results for the 2025-26 academic session. Principal Secretary of the tribal development department, Sonmoni Borah, said Tekam was a resident student at the EMRS in Kanker district. He added that out of the 71 functional high-school level Eklavya schools in Chhattisgarh, 11 institutions recorded a 100% pass percentage this year. Chhattisgarh currently operates 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools focused on the academic and physical well-being of Scheduled Tribe students. This focus led to the state team securing second place in the fourth National Eklavya Sports Meet during the 2025-26 session. Commissioner Saransh Mittar said EMRS Kosambuda in Gariaband district was recently declared the national winner in the Model Youth Gram Sabha competition organised by the union ministry of Panchayati Raj. The school was selected from 800 institutions across India. The students were honoured at a national ceremony on 28 Jan 2026, and the school received a prize of Rs 1 crore. CM Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated Tekam on her success, stating that her achievement reflects her hard work and the state's efforts to provide quality education to tribal students.
